Three surfaces, one app

Right where the screenshot already is.

You shouldn't have to leave the text to check the text. Smells Fishy lives inside iOS — a notification-style dropdown, a share sheet, or the full app. Whichever you're closer to.

01 · Fastest

Hold the Action Button.

An iOS Shortcut runs the scan and drops the verdict from the top — the text underneath stays visible. Two seconds, no switching apps.

02 · Anywhere

Tap Share → Smells Fishy.

From the iOS share sheet in any app, we come up from the bottom with a taller, scrollable result — room for Deep Dive and the receipts.

03 · Full app

Open Smells Fishy.

Review past scans, run a Deep Dive, teach mom how to set up the Shortcut. The app is for when you have a moment, not a panic.

Real verdicts, real screenshots

The kinds of things we catch — and the ones we don't.

Not every scam is obvious. Not every weird text is a scam. Smells Fishy answers the way the app actually talks: looks like a scam, be careful, looks okay so far — or an honest can't tell yet — and explains why.

Deep Dive · The full check

The first look reads the screen. The full check reads the receipts.

Every scan starts as a first look — instant, free, and based only on what's in the screenshot. When a claim needs a real search, Deep Dive checks it against up-to-date sources and shows its work.

The report reads the way the rest of the app does — plain language, in sections:

  • Worth your attention — the specific things we found
  • What sources say— and what we couldn't find
  • Pattern this resembles — when it matches a known scam shape
  • What to do next — concrete steps, not vague warnings
  • Sources — named and linked, so you can check our work

Five full checks a month are free for everyone. Pro makes them unlimited.

Built for the people you love

Your mom shouldn't have to become a cybersecurity expert.

Scam texts cost Americans $10 billion a year. Half that loss is people over 60. The answer isn't “be more careful” — it's having one button that reads the screen and says looks like a scam in plain English.

Add up to 5 family members on a single plan. They get Deep Dive. You get to stop being tech support.

I sent mom the Shortcut. She scanned three texts her first day. One of them was a fake bank alert that would have cleaned out her checking.— Annie R., early tester
Questions

The honest answers.

Do you keep my screenshots?

No. Screenshots are read on-device. We send extracted text only, and we delete the conversation within 24 hours unless you explicitly save it to your history. Nothing is ever sold or shared.

How is this different from just asking ChatGPT?

Speed, framing, and focus. We run purpose-built checks in parallel — scam-template matching, domain/URL inspection, and for Deep Dive, a real search against up-to-date sources. You get an answer in 2–3 seconds, formatted for a glance, not a conversation.

What if you're wrong?

It happens. That's why we show our work — the patterns we noticed, the sources we cited, and an honest “I can’t tell” when the evidence is thin. Use us as a first read, not a last word.

Is the Action Button really required?

No. Use the share sheet, or just open the app and tap “New scan.” The Action Button is the fastest path on iPhone 15 Pro and up — but it’s one of three equal-footing entry points.

Can I put my parents on my plan?

Yes. Pro includes a family plan for up to 5 people. They get their own account, their own history, and their own Deep Dive quota — all on your one subscription.

Android?

On the roadmap. iOS first because the Action Button + Shortcuts integration is genuinely unique to Apple’s ecosystem — it’s the difference between “an app you open” and “a thing that’s there when you need it.”
